Senior Government Relations Associate, Energy & Environment

We provide strategic consulting, business development and advocacy services to support energy and environmental companies, from startups to Fortune 50 companies – as well as other organizations engaged in accelerating the energy transition. AJW is seeking an experienced Senior Government Relations Associate to join our team.

This position will be a dynamic role supporting multiple project teams, and leading Congressional and Executive Branch advocacy and lobbying activities with an emphasis on tax and climate policy. The successful candidate will work with clients seeking to define and accelerate market opportunities for decarbonization technologies. Expertise in Congressional Affairs, and energy and climate policy as they relate to fiscal policy and tax legislation are essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead client lobbying activities
  • Maintain strong relationships with key elected officials and staff
  • Monitor and analyze pending legislation and regulations with specific emphasis on tax requirements, and fiscal policy
  • Advise internal and external stakeholders on public affairs and policy analysis, working closely with the senior legislative partner.
  • Take ownership of strategic projects and analysis; manage and monitor client project schedules, timelines, and milestones.
  • Develop and secure new clients and additional revenue

Relevant Background for this Position

  • Tax and fiscal policy expertise or previous Treasury Department experience
  • Demonstrated record of success with bipartisan lobbying
  • Coalition management
  • Knowledge of energy transition markets, technologies, and policies.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in economics or related field preferred
  • Legally permitted to work in the US. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
