About Mary
Mary has been with AJW since 2018 and works with clean technologies and non-profits on transportation, energy and climate issues across the Pacific Coast. She has successfully led major campaign efforts to establish carbon programs and refine regulatory measures through strategic business engagement.
Today, she leads AJW’s office in California and assists clients with a range of issues surrounding climate programs and market development. She spends her time thinking about the toughest barriers to decarbonizing our economy, including the challenges with transforming our grid, the energy-intense industrial sector, and the hard-to-electrify sectors of transportation. She works with AJW clients to build a durable public affairs strategy, and engages in both regulatory and legislative matters.
Some of Mary’s recent wins include the introduction of an Auto-Acceleration Mechanism into the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, passing a pair of first-in-the-nation laws on reducing the embodied carbon in buildings (AB 2446 and AB 43), and keeping Diablo Canyon’s carbon-free power online.
Mary has been consulting on energy policy since 2008 and has a background in sales and communications. Prior to joining AJW, Mary spent eight years with Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), a partner of Natural Resources Defense Council. There, she ran E2’s presence in California, Oregon, and Washington. She received her MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School, and is a born-and-bred Hoosier.
