AJW is seeking an intern based near our Sacramento, CA office.

The successful candidate is passionate about energy and environmental issues and will be responsible for a variety of functions in support of our client services. This position is aimed at recent college graduates or graduate-level students.

The successful candidate will have a dynamic, cross-cutting role that supports the work of multiple team members and a diverse client portfolio. This internship will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of issues and for multiple client project teams. AJW’s team is passionate about helping our clients succeed in bringing private sector solutions to market to address the world’s most challenging energy and environmental problems. We are looking for an individual with a drive to learn and who shares our passion.

Ideal start date is March, with options for a time commitment between 16-20 hours a week. The start date and time commitment are flexible. This internship is paid, and the stipend will depend on experience and time commitment. Salary range is $1200-$1600 per month.

Manage and execute client-specific tasks for staff, including:

• Research related to legislative, regulatory, and market matters. Topics may include but are not limited to, renewable fuels, hydrogen, carbon capture and sequestration, electric vehicles, and solar.
• Additional research topic areas may include waste stream recycling and conversion, circular economy, and sustainability, coupled with emerging innovative technologies.
• Monitoring and taking notes on public regulatory workshops, legislative hearings, and other public-facing engagements
• Drafting material for PowerPoint presentations, research briefings, letters, memos, and public comment

• Bachelor’s Degree required in environmental sciences, political science, economics, or another related degree. Graduate student preferred.
• Strong, demonstrated writing and note-taking skills
• Ability to perform comprehensive topic-based/secondary research
• Self-motivating and self-disciplined
• Comfortable with MS Office Suite and Teams
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• An all-hands-on-deck attitude and enthusiasm for being a team player
• Strong interest in climate, energy, and policy issues
• Hybrid position, with the ability to attend in-person meetings at the California office
• This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship
